Nature

killdeer

Nature, what a wide open challenge for this week at The Three Muses!  Sooo many possibilities, I couldn't decide.  I finally decided on doing a piece with a killdeer and its camouflaged eggs.  After finishing it though, I decided I didn't really care for it.  (Partly for the eggs being hard to see!)  Oh well.  My little boy asked if he could hang it in his room, at least he likes it.
Since I wasn't happy with the killdeer piece, I decided to do another one.  This time a robin with her beautiful blue eggs which stand out against everything!  I can't wait for the day to see our first robin, which means spring is here.  Wisconsin winters get kind of long and I shouldn't be thinking about spring yet, but I just can't help it.

I have to admit I am scratching my head and wondering why you don't like your kildeer piece. It reminds me of a wood carving with wonderful textures and sharp colours, not unlike the carvings of ducks which float in ponds. I love it - a lot. No wonder your son wants it for his bedroom wall. Your second picture is exquisite - everything about it. Your artwork in both pictures is superb. A standing ovation from me.

I love them both, Tammy! The background for the robin is gorgeous. In fact the whole thing is outstanding! I know what you mean about winter being LONG. We just keep getting snow after snow. I DID see a robin last week. He was sitting on a branch all fluffed out and looking miserable, I'm sure wondering why he didn't stay South another couple of weeks!

Both wonderful--you could do a serie of paintings like this--and our Spring isn't around the corner either--we don't really get excited until April. Oh well, only 1 week until March.

You are so right Tammy about this theme !
There where indeed many possibilities, I couldn't decide eather.
Personal I prefer the second one if I may say so. Especially the bright colours and the touch of a grungy effect.

Both pieces are wonderful, Tammy! The killdeer has a whole different feel from the robin, you should feel proud of both of them! And your son has good taste, too! LynnF

Exactly what Ozstuff said--the first reminds me of a woodcutting picture--its beauty is in the simple lines of it. And then there is the second piece with all the POW of vivid colors and design elements added to it--wonderful. I like both of them very much--is that allowed? =)
