mother's day gifts

mother's day gift
the theme this week at Mixed Media Monday is Mothers.  i decided to use this as a chance to work on my mother's day gifts that i have to give!  i usually make some part of the gift, but wasn't sure what i was going to do until i found this local honey from Sweet Prairie Farm.  i bought some regular honey and some honey creme, one with pecans, one with blueberries and the third with apple cinnamon,  you can put this on crackers, bread, in your tea, etc..  i then remembered i had some flour sack towels which i had picked up years ago at a thrift store just waiting for something to be embroidered on them, so i drew up a little bee and some honeycomb to sew on them.  since i had to sew 3 of them, (my husbands dad remarried) i needed to keep the design simple. i then used the inside of a cereal box as the container and cut out a few felt flowers to add a nice touch to it.  i think it all came together pretty well.

Just charming!

I am still going to try and get something up for this challenge despite finals....and it will be doubling for my mom's mother's day gift too! (i don't think that's cheating at all! It's simply "creating smart!"

What a beautiful and creative way to make tasty and local products have even a greater feeling of handmade. The flowers on the box are the best!
